This lovely serving dish created by artist Harold Alfred combines functionality with the highest level of aesthetic quality. Each bowl is adorned with traditional Northwest coast Native art by a meticulous acid etching process. Each bowl is also hand hammered silver plated copper. Copper is considered a symbol of prosperity and good fortune among Northwest coast Native peoples.

 

The Sun is identified with its long rays and usually has the face of the hawk with its recurved beak touching its mouth. The Sun Chief is the provider of healing energy and life, put into the sky by the Raven. The rays are means of our travel between earth and sky.

 

This serving dish is 5 1/2" can be used on a regular basis for serving hors d'oeuvres, candies, chocolate and other delicacies. It's attractive design can even serve as a base for a candle. this dish should not be put in the dishwasher.
