Richard Shorty was born in 1959 in Whitehorse Yukon Canada. He is a member of the Southern Tuchone Band. Richard has been creating exceptional artwork since the age of six. He moved from Canada's north in 1978 to Vancouver, B.C and soon after that began to establish himself as one of the West Coast's premier First Nations artists. Richard blends traditional coastal native designs with a distinctive style of his own to create works of art that are immediately recognizable as his. In addition to limited edition prints Richard's designs have often been made into art cards or incorporated into jewlery.
